Good man Tex...I remember the days where you bashed the 335's...glad to see you've come around. Although, if you wanna see some big number 335's...go to Barnett High Performance.

Yeah...it's either one of two things...they don't know their azz from fat meat, or are ragging on stock smogged numbers...and the latter can be easily fixed.

I wish :(
So any ways I want that engine.

Me too...I figure the first few months out in the work force, I'll just live with the folks, save all my money...then go blow it on anything I've ever wanted for my rides.

Uh huh...and where were you when 10's of 1000's of owners of 1975/78 passenger cars, 1977/78 F100/350's had to replace the cylinder heads of their 351M's?

The 1975/78 heads were very prone to cracking, most cracked AFTER the Warranty period expired, which meant the owners of these vehicles had to pay roughly SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS to replace the heads, which was a lotta money back then.

From 1975 thru roughly 1983, I passed out over the back parts counter, well over 400 SETS of these heads, and this was one partsguy at one dealership.

Imagine how many sets of these heads were passed out at the other 6,000 + dealerships.

The only place I'd put a 351M is in the scrap pile.

The 351M and the AOD were the worst pieces of crap Ford ever made.

I knew somebody was gonna get me on the head issue. But I agree, in stock form there is much to be desired...guess I'm one to look at the potential. As for the AOD...I'm right there with you Bill.

I think the guys at TMI would disagree with you :p

Of course back in the days, now days new engines go bad in what 5 years??
Also who runs their engines bone stock and look for performance?
I have a 73 400 michigan bad block (the one on the avatar) with stock heads running awsome, so i must disagree with you... Cleveland heads were also prone to cracking, you dont see alot of people rambling about them...
So the point is not what they were, who cares? the point is what they can be with as little as a cheap rebuilt, so i wouldnt throw away a 351m, i would check it for cracks as i would on a 460/windor/351c and then built a nice 408 or 434 if money lets me...
