Interesting read- but obviously written by someone that doesn't track the biz.
1. The Ford F150 was the largest selling anything last year... again.
2. The GMT900 (Silverado and Sierra) actually outsold the Ford... again, if you combine the sales.
3. Those "big" GM SUV's no one's buying? GM pushed almost 250,000 Tahoes/Suburbans/Yukons/Escalades out the door in MY '09. Think about that for a minute- they were down about 40%, and still generated that kind of volume. That was, BTW, 65% market share in the (highly profitable) full size and luxury SUV market.
Be interesting to see the restyle. Be even more interesting to see if it changes sales any. The GMT900 cost about $2 Billion to bring to market, and didn't change the sales needle a bit- good or bad. In other words, they probably could have left it alone, saved the loot, and sold the same number of trucks.
