Well went over truck tallying up what I need to get for next year . Be rust fix or just worn out stuff. DId a core support swap .

And took the spare down . Never been on road by the way .To clean treads and stuff so I could get off easy if needed. And Looks like my rear tank is starting to seep some on strap.

SO metal or poly ? ? To replace it . The poly ussually have couple extra gal capacity . Ow and no rust . My buddy put ones From JC W on and they fit great . They r $50 more than steel .

Metal under $100 bucks last 8 10 year on average (PA ) or more . More than enough to out live the truck . Its a work truck .

This is my favorite body style . And even if get a newer ride probably keep around and redo .I ussually go for whatever lasts longest . And could transplant in other truck .

What ya think?

I like poly.

No rust worries, and I'm told (though I haven't tested it) they're a little more puncture-resistant if you're in the rough stuff, because they're more flexible.

Mostly the rust thing, though- rust through, and also rust flakes inside that plug up fuel filters, etc...

If you're going to keep the truck, or part it out for your next ride, that's what I'd do.

Poly got my vote as well....we don't have to deal with rust around here but I'd definitely go poly with the consideration of your geographical location.

Actually Painting dose not help much . Most tanks I have replaced look like they rusted worse on inside when I cut them apart (allot like oil pans) . And rust on top where salt cant get to easy .
But a good coat o paint will sure help .

Thanks .

This will be a summer project .

My rear tank doesnt work and im also gonna look for a new one this summer. Thinking about doing a rear bronco tank, thats if i can get it in a poly. My spare is in the bed of my truck anyways..

I think i'm going with metal. So that I can get the 38 gal. rear tank and a new 19 gal. front. Can't seem to find the 38 gal. in poly.
