How would I know if the Marquis needs ball joints? I know it needs an idler arm (bushing very worn), but dunno about ball joints or tie rod ends. TIA.

Jack it up under the lower control arm (close to the ball joint) then, using a pry bar, raise the tire from underneath. Shouldn't be any play.
