I removed shifter from transmission when replacing the slave valve , pressure plate and resurfacing the flywheel. Now I reinserted the shifter and it seams that neuteral is 1st gear. I have tryed moving the forks around to find the netual postion , with no luck. Are there any photo's tricks , specific "line up" position that i am not finding??
1st time here. Thanks

What kind of vehicle is this? Year, model, etc.

Sounds like it needs the forks lined up. Did you completely remove the shift lever out of the trans, or just the top part?

You need to remove it again, look down into the top of the trans. It needs to be put into neutral manually. Use a screwdriver to align the shift rails to neutral, then reinstall the shifter.

done that, wondering if the syncros could be messed up ?
if you're always in first gear or it wont shift out, its shift fork, shifter installed incorrectly, or shift rail. Synchronizers only cause issues shifting into that gear generally.

yes, feels like netural is 1st and then when i shift to other gears you can feel the extra load on motor like starting in 3rd or 4th gear

Sounds like you got it stuck in a gear, and when you shift it your now puting it into 2 gears giving you the extra load or binding it up. This shouldn't happen from just removing the shifter, sounds to me like you should pull the trans and open it up to look at the shift forks and make sure none of the internals are damaged.

I think that's what I'll do, the shifting forks are in the top of the tranny, correct? If they are bent any body know good place to get new ones from ??
