From a Chevy Dmax boy..

Couple pics of the new ride.
I'm happy so far... the 6.2 is definitely a step in the right direction over the anemic 5.4 It has a nice deep rumble that you wouldn't expect. Certainly no diesel, but it has plenty in the *** dept. The transmission likes to shift. It's in 6th with the TC locked at 40 before you can blink and downshifts readily without much throttle. The ride is totally different from what I'm used to- very firm and the steering is very responsive.

The Ford Sync thing is a very cool feature and integrates with the nav/audio system well. It has a hard drive that you can rip CD's to and play from the 'jukebox'. Also has a USB port and an aux in jack that I've had my ipod plugged into today... all the audio info is displayed on the screen and the steering wheel controls handle everything.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Wow Grady. I can't believe you actually did it. What did it cost you out the door??

Still got that predator in your closet? :hihi:

The predator was in the for sale section...you have to get up early to find the bargains

That's sharp Grady. I take it you gotta fold the mirrors to get in the garage.

Rofl... Looks like he needs to let the air outta the tires to get it in the garage! :)

Sweet ride, Grady!

Congrats! Looks Good.

Got any Plans for it yet?

Nice truck Grady. Hopefully she will treat you the same as the Dmax did.

Looks good man. Good luck with her.

WHY in the sam-hill would you buy a gas Super Duty?
willy_nilly.gif
Gas mileage is gonna suck worse than the resale, you're severely limited with what you can do with the thing (compared to a PSD), and more HP or not- it takes a lot of torque (and fuel) to move a 7,000 brick with any authority. It's like the answer to the question no one asked!

Uh huh...so why did Ford offer the 5.4L V8 & 6.8L V10 on previous SD's?

Did'ja know that more SD's are sold every year with gassers than with diesels?

Did'ja know that more SD's are sold as fleet vehicles than are sold to the general public?

The 6.2L has gotta be better than the 5.4L. I had a 5.4L in a 2004 Lariat Screw. It was so anemic it couldn't pull a sick trollop off a porcelain device!

^^

My 5.4 still puts me back in the seat at 60 KPH, and it's ten years old. :p

Good enough for me!

I wouldn't buy a gas SD, but that is one beautiful truck. 6.2 is a nice piece.

Perhaps he didnt have funds for a PSD... ?

I agree... A gas SD is pretty dumb.

Not everybody wants a diesel.. Just saying...

All correct- but the sales of gas motor's can be attributed to the fleet business (which I was in for over three decades). Of course, fleet's could care less about resale since they run the wheels into dust.

For a private gasoline buyer, a F150 is cheaper, more economical, and a good deal quicker because of the lighter weight. It also won't carry that "why isn't it a diesel" curse come trade-in or resale time.

Not everybody wants a diesel.. Just saying...

In calendar year 2006, we sold a whopping 2 Gas Super duties to retail customers. This out of a store that sold 45-60 new Ford pickups a month. Both trucks were special orders and... yeah, I sold 'em both. One's in New Jersey and the other's in Texas (both were V10's).

My years in the car biz say otherwise- you can't give away a gas 3/4T or 1T in either Chebbie, Ford, or Dodge in these parts. We're a higher-demographic suburban area of Portland. Some sub-divisions, a lot of acreage with big houses. The gas buyers stick with 1/2T's.

Y'all are speculating on what the owner is gonna do with this SD. For all y'all know, it's just gonna sit in the driveway, cuz it won't fit into the garage.

People buy all sorts of trucks, but many could get by with a car, because most are just used as DD's.
