Looking for a manual transmission

I can't remember for sure, but does the 351M/400 have the same pattern as a 460? I am looking for a 5 speed manual transmission that will bolt up to a 351M, but wont have to be switched out once the 351M is replaced with a 460. (if they do in fact have the same housing pattern)

This is for my 77 F250 2wd. I am leaving the 351M in there for now, until the 460 gets built. The C6 needs a rebuild, but my wife (me too) really wants a manual transmission in it.

It is the same bolt pattern..but I'm thinking you might have have to do something with the flywheel...and maybe even something to do with whether the crank was externally or internally balanced...seems to be a somewhat popular swap though, so it must be fairly straightforward.

The special 390 flywheel is only needed if the 460 is internally balance (older 460/429) I am pretty sure a 77 460 is externally balanced there requiring newer parts.

The TC is different on a 460 compared to 400.

Getting the whole meal deal you need the drivetrain from an 83 and up 460 4x4

I am not following you completely, but I don't have a 77 460, the 460/C6 I have is from a 76 Lincoln.

What are you saying about an 83 and up 460 4x4? (my 77 is 2wd)
