I got a 1995 F350, with 7.5l V8, and E4OD tranny. Apparently I need a new rear main seal. Shes leaking a pretty good amount of oil from it, so I want to replace that seal, along with the oil pan gasket and oil pump. I was quoted $900 to do the job plus the oil pump and gaskets. That seems pretty steep, anyone here think otherwise? He said its a 9 hour job at $75 an hour. Ahh, these are the same guys that did my top end work a few months ago so I do trust them, but they are pricey.

Hmm. I don't think that sounds TOO bad. Replacing the rear main will mean they'll either have to pull the transmission or pull the engine. Seeing as you're having them also replace the oil pump I think it'd be in their best interest to pull the engine. If that's the case, you're talkin' about quite a bit of work. Keep that in mind.

Is it one they have to remove the cab too? Or is that later models?

Skan is right. Removing the engine sounds like the easiest way to go there. That is a lot of work. Time is money. The parts are not the expensive part.

I am not familair with labor times or charges, but I assume other people are.

I'd be looking for a nice warranty on the parts and labor......maybe a 3/36, or at the very least a 2/24.......... leaks have a tendency to recur.
