Just bought 87 f250 4x4 with 460 4sp

Just picked up this truck off Craigs lists for $700.00. The truck is in great shape with only 78K on it. The problem is I towed it home because the 17yr kid started to take off all the smog and vacuum lines with out knowing what he was doing. It is a carb not EFI, so my question is what lines do I really need to get this Beast back on the road. All the smog pumps are gone along with most vacuum lines, I did a compression test on all 8 and no bleed down. The reason he removed everything is cause he thought he would pick up more power. Silly Kid! Any help would be great. O yea does any one know what min. vacuum lines I need?

87 should be EFI. Maybe 460 its not. You really dont need any of that stuff. Ive removed it all from all my trucks. If you get smog tested you will need a cat. Just need vac for brake booster, and hvac system.

Just looked up specs, and yea in 87 the 5.8L and 7.5L are carbs. Wierd. So you will need vac for dizzy advace, heat, and booster. Everything else isnt needed.

Well got her tuned up with new cap/rotor/plugs/coil and wires. I set timing to 8* and she will idle fine but when I give it wot she feels like the timing is not right(bogs down and missfiring). I went over everything again but it still won't run under wot, could it be the carb its not tuned or needs a rebuilt? This truck has NO smog or vac lines . I had put vac lines on Dis./Heater control/Cruise control and Power Brakes. The PCV comes off the carb. All the plastic hose's like my 89 351 are all gone when I got the truck. It will run and idle sweet but when i'm in gear and get up to 2800-3000 RPM (WOT)she starts to miss and shutter.

your timing is off

Make sure your timing is retarded and not advanced 8 degrees. I have mine at 12 btdc. I will check again tomorrow and confirm that. But I am pretty sure. Mine runs like a champ, DONT MESS with carb, until timing is ELIMINATED!

now on the 460 is there a little spout you have to pull out to check timing like on the 302 and 351? if there is he may not have pulled it out.
