Junk yard dog.....

Well, after much thinking and dread about it ,, I finally did convert my 85 EFI F-150 over to a simpler set up... went with stock breakerless ign and a holley 600 cfm carb/ E-brock intake.... vacume advance and all.... mechanically the conversion was a breeze,,, electrically , I am a dummy :hammer: so that part was a nightmare....:headbang: finally I did succeed in piggy backing the electric fuel pump and the ign system off of the stock wiring so that the key would start the truck.... and,,, THE TRUCK RUNS SOOOOO MUCH BETTER... more power all the way thru the rpm range... and I am not talking about ''getting on it''.... the engine seems eager to run now where as before it just ran.... I have not recurved the dizzy ,,, just set the timeing on 8 deg. and let it ride.... the engine has a HO cam and I rebuilt it when i bought it out of the junk yard.... smilietease Now I just have to ''refine'' the thing to get it like I want it....
I love this old truck , it is just a farm truck but I have it set up pretty good with overloads and it really gets the job done and I dont have to worry about scratching it up.....smilieFordlogo

had to smile when I read your post, I said the exact same thing when I got my F250, :) (check out the TOTM 2012, mine's the Orange one :D )

No, Justin ,,, I did not do any pictures,,, but the more I drive it , the more I like it.... it already obviously is smoother, has more power,,, and is tame when you start up.... no more computer telling the engine to rev up at inopportune times.... hated that.... go to shift into reverse and the computer would run the rpms up over 2000.... the thing would snatch your teeth out of your head going into reverse.....
I am currently checking on the gas mileage.... just dont know yet.... but it has got to be at least some better.....
I used a little holley 600 vac secondary carb that I had tricked out to go on a 425 buick engine that I have.... and it works really good on the little 302,,,
