intake options...

ok im still trying to decide on a intake for my motor build. see sig....

there is an ad on craigslist (link to ad) for a trickflow intake for a 302. likely it matches up to GT40 heads. but is this intake more of a HP intake or would it be good for my truck?
and then there is a edelbrock 5.8L EFI manifold. it is designed just like the shock one but is tuened more for TQ accepts stock hardware and can use with stock throttle body. part number in JEGS is 350-3881. it goes for $595.99. think thats a good buy or should i go another route?

see the reason why im looking at the edelbrock is idk how i could get MAF STUFF to work with the 302 style intake.

Those heads arnt GT40, Stock HO heads are the same as on the trucks. I have a set, the GT40's come on the explorer heads, and there not real GT40, my bronk has the rear GT40, FFPP heads. Plus a 302 intake isnt fittin on a 351 block.

on my reading it depends on the year as to what heads are on the HO. guess ill have to check and see.

E7's are not a bad head to begin with just need some modification..... www.thumperoforangepark.com . Too bad you're in a rush to get em. I was considering swapping my 5-0 for a 5-8 and lettin the GT40's go with the 302. But then again i wanna go through the 5-8 and make some mods.

well i know a guy who has some GT40's sitting in his garage but i havent talked to him since i quit my other job. i hope i can get in touch and see how much he wants for them.
 
The Edelbrock Performer is better suited to GT40 heads but I'd suggest using the car style single throttlebody upper because it eliminates the need for an external EGR tube and makes intake plumbing simpler. The extra runner length the truck upper provides isn't needed with the 5.8 either as it's already a torquey motor compared to a 5.0. Another strike against the truck upper is that because the upper is taller the stock EGR tube isn't long enough so you'll have to make a custom tube or eliminate the EGR system.

Also note that Professional Produces makes a performer copy for about 1/2 the price...
