Instrument cluster

My husband and I decided to do a little recon on my truck. I was really tired of not being able to see how fast I was going at night. So I got it in my head, that I was going to change the bulbs in my cluster. I did not do this job all by myself, (although I probably should have). So we changed out all of the bulbs and replaced the clusters back in its home. We turned the truck on and all of the gauges were not working. Took the cluster back out and found that when my husband put it back, he was a little rough on it and scratched the printed circuit on the back. I can't seem to find a replacement. I have to buy a cluster from a junk yard or buy a new one. I don't like either option. Does anyone know where I can find just the printed circuit? Thank you for your time!

What you might try is the rear defroster repair kit. Most parts stores carry them.

Really? That is really cool, but can you tell me how it works to fixing the printed circuit? I won't be asking my hubby for help on this one!

You don't have to answer how it works. I looked it up. That's pretty cool, but how well do you think it will work?

Works well for the defrosters, and they have heat involved. Its also cheaper than a printed circuit!

It didn't work. I have a Haynes Repair Manual, but I hate that it tells me that we have to check all the fuses and wiring. I checked all the fuses and found nothing wrong with them. I don't know enough to go through and check all the wires. I don't know what else to do.

Do you have pats? (the ignition key with a chip in it). If so, the pats system runs through the instrument cluster. If you replace it, it wont start. Where the plugs go into the cluster, make sure all of the contacts are good and not damaged.

As far as I can tell everything looks good. The only thing that I did notice, is that the place where I repaired the printed circuit, it was a tiny bit corroded. The compound for the repair kit is a tan color, but the corroded area is a white, gray color. Just a very small spot. What do you think that means?

You might use an ohm meter to check continuity from the plug, all the way through the circuit.

Well I wish I could....I don't know that much about trucks. I might have to call a repair shop.
