Reprogram APIM (Associate Protocol Interface Module). IDS hooked up to the internet, download new programming onto flashdrive, insert flashdrive into SYNC, upload, then hook back into IDS to verify installation to FORD.

Hell...I got one of them college degrees in engineering, and if the heater controls are more complicated than three knobs, I usually just hope whoever drove the thing before me left it set to "comfortable." I can't imagine trying to fix one of those blasted systems.

More like----hook up IDS to reprogram, IDS not updated to version high enough to complete. Start download of version 71.0. Internet goes down. After internet comes back up, resume download. IDS battery goes dead. Recharge battery, resume download. 45 minutes later, 71.0 is downloaded. Immediately, automatic update 71.1 comes up. Download 71.1. IDS battery again----charge battery, resume 71.1. Download complete. Start reprogram of APIM (45 minutes). Reprogram sucessful, problem with climate control fixed. 6.5 hours spent, warranty pay 1.5 hours

i think TSB time is same as cash time.. but warranty time is less than cash time also... I THINK!!!!

At the end of a tsb they will show the time that you will get paid. Its warranty time.

wow, i thought you were joking at first, voice command climate controls? i miss the days of levers and cables, stupid vaccum controlled crap gives me fits, now voice commands? really. next they will have auto pilot stuff, you'll tell the car where to go and kick back for a nap whlie it drives itself. crazy stuff. getting paid flat rate sucks when you have issues that really cause you to go over the flat rate time. i enjoy working on my own stuff, but i dont think id like doing it for a living.......again.

They do expect alot from mechanics nowadays....and alot of times they don't give the pay that should go with it.
