So I cant sleep once again and the mood was work on Bronco. So Its now cold out and time to get the back glass in. So I put the tracks back in, and then the glass. Snugging the last glass to track bolt I shattered the glass. Great, alas I had a spair from when I got the new tailgate for it, so once again remove track, sweep and vac up all the glass. Put tracks back in, put glass in, and lightly snug bolts. Yes I didnt break it. So since I dont have a wiring harness I used a spair lawn mower battery to power the window up. Yess Now i can drive it and all the exhaust wont come in. Still need to get the seals for the tailgate and figure out how to put the glass up and down.

Im a retard for breaking the glass.

Random thought (and off topic), but what would keep you from using the Bronco motor/window track ect. and putting in in the backglass of a truck...

I think some trucks have it as a option now, but not sure..

no there are no trucks that have a back window that goes down. i honestly dont think you can us a bronco window either because it is a bit different in length.

Thats one of the FEW (theres only a few) things i commend Toyota on, one being there entire back window slides down instead of having a sliding rear window..i LOVE that option and would love it in my truck....the other thing i like that they offer is the whole Selectable Locking Diff Front and Rear on most if not all trucks and SUV's....ford needs to do that.....

I mean it probably is possible for someone to create something like that in these trucks but it would take some custom fab work to do it right

True...the Bronco window wouldn't work...different lenght, heigh and curvature.

Agreed...I think it would be cool, and don't see why you couldn't take everything but the glass and fab something up. I bet the worst part though, would be fabbing up the area for the glass to drop and be safe and still line up and seal.

That's the one I was talking about... the Toyota. I couldn't remember which company did it, but I knew it wasn't Ford

That's pretty much what I meant.. use the motor and stuff from a bronk, window from the truck, and make everything else as you go along...

Not on an F-Series, there isnt any opening between the cab metals, youd have to have it stick out into cab. Wouldnt be worth it. Chevs got that slider option i think.

Dont feel bad. I shattered the glass on my 79 bronco as well. Amazing how far pieces of glass fly and where it ends up. Dont take much to break it either!

Really...I've always thought that glass was pretty tough...I've accidentally hit it on bumpers, fenders...whatever was in the garage...without a break yet.

I hit it a few times in the garage, and even drove the bronk into it when I was tryin to back it out the garage after i did the HO swap. I think its just when you put too much stress on it. Also the holes there make it weak id think.

On a positive note, I looked up the wiring diag for the window motor and the switch does the power and grounds for the 2 wires, so I didnt need the harness. I just hooked the up and down wires to the motor and hit the switch and away she went. Never worked since the kid owned the bronk and not I finally fixed it. So happy. Almost time for body work.
