How will the 2009 Ram stack up to the 2009 F150?

LOL! "4wd axle disconnect" to improve fuel economy. Yeah it's called a hub lockout--- Ford has been doing it for years

I do like the storage spaces in the floor and under the rear seats, thats a good idea.

Coil spring rear suspension... ICK!

Storage in the sides of the bed are a good idea but the extra lines on the side of the truck are ugly and the reduced bed space is a shame.

I'm not sure I like the exhaust cutouts in the bumper, looks too much like a sedan.

Overall they did a pretty good job, the attention to detail is nice... But it seems to me like they're just trying too hard-- added EVERY feature they can think of. I'm surprised it doesnt have a blender and an olympic swimming pool.

Ya know, to be brutally honest, somewhere in Michigan (and Texas) there are auto execs about ready to commit hari kari over the timing of all this new truck product. Take the new Silverado- it's a great product, and a huge improvement over the old one. But- honestly- knowing everything we know now, I doubt GM is going to sell one additional unit of the new bodystyle that they wouldn't have sold if they'd just kept the old bodystyle. And pocketed the $3 Billion in R&D money. God only knows, GM could use that cash right about now.

And the all-knowing god Toyota. Gas prices rocketed literally hours after that new Tundra hit the showroom floors. I doubt many potential customers know, or care, at this point how many ponies that thing's got under the hood. If they're anything like the folks we talk to (and they are), the customers are simply asking- "which one gets the best gas mileage?" The Tacoma is creaming the thing on the showrooms as I type this. At least Toyota is clever enough to be able to rotate production between the two, and to them a few billion down a rathole is just a drop in the bucket.

Ford delayed the new F150 for a few months to give dealers a chance to clear off some of the excess old F150 inventory. There's a big scramble going on in Dearborn to get new product onto shoroom floors- but trucks aren't what they're scrambling for. At least the Ranger got a reprieve out of all this- poor timing to consider pulling the plug on the only truck product that's logging sales increases.

Nissan is starting to look like a hero about now. They pulled the plug on the Titan and will simply have Dodge build them a re-badged truck in Mexico and call it a day. After all is said and done, don't be surprised if Renault (Nissan's owner) winds up with Chrysler too.

Sooo... will the '09 Dodge be a fine truck? Probably the best Dodge they've ever built. Will anyone really care? Sadly, probably not.

U mean the bid door to hide the spare or the little tool box tucked under bed. Neither of which I would cll storage. But yes Ford had it.

i googled "2009 dodge axle disconnect" and it looks like they've been whoring out this "feature" for a while

here's and article talking about how the 2006 Ram will have it as well
Another new bit of standard equipment on 4x4 Rams is a front-axle disconnect that allows rear drive when appropriate, to improve fuel economy.

my 93 has the same feature.
that google link shows some other articles talking about how some of the new chrysler models are getting the same "feature" on the AWD cars.
Active Transfer Case and Front-axle Disconnect are two independent systems that work together to disengage the car's front axle from the drivetrain when all-wheel-drive is not needed. It's available on the 2009 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.

good work dodge. next thing you know they'll be selling "fluid-assisted steering" as a "feature"

i seen this truck and got to drive it for work cause we build autoshow displays for them and i had to go to the pontiac silver dome for a ride and drive. They had the 09 Dodge Ram and they had 08 chevy ford and toyota. Lets put it this way we had a 2.5 inch rope acting as a rumble strip and we tested the dodge chevy and toyota and the chevy was better then them all. The dodge felt like the bed was going to bounce off. The Toyota the front bumper was about to fall off. The chevy was as smooth as can be. Im only 19 and I asked the guy that was in charge of the test why dont we test the 150 and he didnt say anything. Prolly knew the 150 was better. They did a couple other test to see how the suspension flexes. Well I was pissed cause ford was the only one with running boards and they wouldnt go as far as the dodge cause the running board was hitting im like wow get the same trucks and the ford will out do it. They prolly figured we cant allow that either. Im thinking the 09 is going to be alot better than the dodge
