Header gasket leak

I recently had the rear main seal in my 95 F350 replaced, and in doing so, they had to remove my driver side header to get to the oil pan gasket, any way, they replaced the doug thorley gasket with a manifold gasket, and now the header leaks like a son of a gun, my question was is there a chance it just needs to be re tightened? If so do you know what sort of torque i should apply?

I would put a wrench on them snug'em up. If the leaks still there bring it back to who ever did the work and complain. Mabe they'll take care of it...

My experience with headers, the gaskets are made in such a way that they compress down to the shape of the flanges on the headers when you tighten them down. When you loosen them up, they need to be replaced with new header gaskets. They are made to do this and handle the heat as well.

Its funny you say that Chris, I am having custom copper gaskets made for my truck as we speak. I have blown out 3 Felpro high performance gaskets since I installed the new headers.

Its annoying tho because this shop that did the rear main seal, is also the shop who put the headers in, so of all people I would have expected them to use a high quality header gasket, because now there going to have to take the header off again to put in a set of doug thorley gasket. I prob just do it myself because I cant stand shops taking my truck hostage anymore.
