Has anybody figured out where...

to mount a sub. in a truck with the fuel tank behind the seat? I was thinking about building an overhead console like thing. Then maybe I could mount a small sub. and my stereo in it. Thinking maybe just wide enough to fit between the visors and the length of the top. I don't really know if you would want the sub. overhead though.

That'd get old really quick to your ears. Subs penetrate nearly everywhere and it doesn't matter where you put them, you can still hear them. They also provide the most damage to your ears than any of the other frequencies. If nothing else, I'd worry about going deaf if i put them up there. Is there room under the seat at all?

No, That's where I thought about putting the amp.. But there's not enough room for that. Maybe I'll just forget it and try to find some door speakers that have some decent bass to them. I was just tryin cause I had a sub. and amp. given to me.

I bought some jvc speakers for the doors in the 76 and they got pretty good bass to em. I dont like the thumpin crap so ive got the bass turned down to about 3.

If you are serious about the tunes why not relocate the tank?

You could always build a box in center under the dash. A single sub there even a small one would sound alot bigger. Just a thought. If it was me I think I would do what 70 said and move the tank then you got plenty of room.

I'm not that worried about getting it installed to warrant moving the tank. I was just thinking if there was a way that didn't involve a whole lot of re-configuring, I would try. yeah, the tank is in the way there, but I don't think that I want to move it.

If you are interested in door speakers, I have a pair of super high end JBL GTO637 that I bought for my truck, they retail for $200+ but I got them wholesale on Ebay for -$50. The bass is great for 6.5" speakers and the treble is super detailed.

i actually have a few ideas for a center council that has a sub and a amp but it hasn been warm enough for me to put my mind in motion. my idea only works if it is a manual tho

Center CONSOLES are a PITA when there is a 3 rd person in the cab.

How about either installing a newer seat and raise it off the floor 4" and put the sub under the seat ?
