Did you ever notice as you travel around that different areas tend to have dominant truck brands?

As an example: Farmington, ME is Chevy country, with Dodge as a second choice.

Dove Creek, CO is Ford country, with Dodge in second again.

Middlebury, VT seems to be Dodge country (though less distinctly so), with Ford and Chevy about tied.

It's not that other brands are unavailable, just that the majority of people in those areas are "Ford guys" or "Chevy guys" or whatever.

Aside from my usual joke about it being "something in the water" in areas where they like Chevies, my best theory is that it dates back to who was the best dealer in the area back 60-80 years ago... Anybody got a better explaination?

Chevy spends a lot of money studying and marketing that observation. Pacific Northwest is the strongest Ford area in the nation, Southwest the strongest Chevy area.
