Ford dealership thermostat

When i went to my Ford dealership parts department to pick up my 2003 6.0 powerstroke thermostat it was $39.00. To my surprise the housing, rubbergasket, and thermostat are sold a a thermostat assembly. The parts man said this is how the thermostat is sold. Did i get taken to the stupid farm or what?

That is how they come for a 6.0. I have never tried to get them separate.

Ford dealership Thermostat

Thanks for the input d-kuzmen. I installed this thermostat because i had no heat from the heater and the lower radiator hose was cold when engine temp was normal.......Tom

Yes i get heat now. Lower radiator hose is hot again, engine temp 190-210 deg. I did flush the engine although the coolant looked good (clean).. I was however a little concerned with the consistency ( thickness) of the coolant so i changed it with Ford and Internationals suggested coolant. Life is good again....LOL.......Tom

So at normal temp we should see 190-200 at idle is this correct.
cause I getting 180 -186 running down the road

normal temp we should see 190-200

This temperature of about 200 degrees i posted was after a flush, new thermostat, new antifreeze and a brisk 2-3 mile run down the road and back home again. I dont think it would have stayed in this range on a typical day.........Tom
