Ford 8.8 pinion seal

Am I correct in thinking that I can replace the pinion seal without tearing the rear end apart? If I take the nut off and pull the flange will I have access to the seal, or does it come out from inside the diff?

I haven't taken a close look yet, and its usually about -5 outside, so I will gather as much info before I tackle this project.

Yes, remove from the front. Replace the crush nut/sleeve and top off the fluid.

Thanks, thats what I figured, and what I was hoping for, as this will be done in sub zero weather.

Make sure to let the friggin part get to -5 before you install. I can see you out there trying to jam that POS in a hole that's 2 sizes too small.
