Ford 1970 3/4 ton w/ 390 - starts then dies

We just bought a Ford 1970 3/4 ton with a 390. Did a carb rebuild, replaced ignition coil and replaced battery.

Its starting up, then after a few seconds... dies. Sometimes it lasts a little longer about 10 seconds or so. Also, sometimes if the gas pedal is pumped it immediately dies.

Any help would be great.

Have you checked things like..

cap

rotor

ensure plug wires are in correct order

fuel quantity test

make sure your gettin enough fuel pressure while running.. also make sure the float is adjusted correctly and not allowing the carb to flood and choking it..

if its still got the old canister style fuel pump its got a filter in it. if it does save yourself a lot of problems and go to the parts store and get a fuel pump for a 76 with a 360. no more canister problems because that model doesn't have one. you might have to be a little creative makin the lines fit back on but its not bad at all
