? For the guys with Super Cabs

Alright fellas...this may be a dumb a question, but I've always wondered where/how you guys get panels and pieces for fixes on the extended part of a super cab? It's a completely unique area...does anyone offer skins for the area? Do you have to find a donor to replace the extended panels? What about drip rail mouldings...where do you find those? And probably one of the hardest things to find is the upper and lower parts for the race track trim...does anyone repop that...or is a donor the only answer? I ask because I figure this particular area on dentsides has to be the hardest place to repair due to lack of available parts...it's not like a regular cab could help, and a CC has a door. So who has restored one of these, and how did you repair/replace any and all components of the super cab area?

I've kinda wondered that also. It's one of the main reasons I shy away from anything but a regular cab. But, if someone is good with metal fab, anything can be molded to work.

I thought the same thing Buck...but daggon that would get pretty expensive quick...I would think anyway.

I would answer this question if I could, Ben but I've got limited knowledge of bodywork and I definitely have never done any work on that part of the body of my SC's.

I can tell you how I would approach it though...find a good donor truck in a junkyard with what I need (moldings, driprails, etc). Good piece of sheetmetal for the rest. My 2 cents.

I don't know about the trim and mouldings but as for the sheet metal would be farly simple. The corners can be reworked from a regular cab pieces and the flat can come from bed of a donor or repop panels. I worked with my cousin on his a few years back. It turned out OK but could have been perfect had he not been in such a hurry.

I have several donor trks/OR ebay and LMC make full cab corners.All the parts are out there.The one TUFF ONE is the drip rail for the SC.No one makes it new as far as I know and I myself or have never seen someone get a used one off succesfully,So if u want it on the trk.I'd recommend the SC u buy has-em

Tell you what...send it to me, I'll cover shipping, and I'll tell you just how desireable it is...however, it may take me anywhere from a week to 50 years. While you're at it, you may want to throw in those Sanderson's you owe me. Seriously though...that does look like quite the candidate for a transplant to a 4wd frame.

The one I got for parts is rusted out on the cab corners where the trim goes on the bottom. I might get me a 4wd frame one of these days and throw the body on there for a cool project I really hated to take parts off it but it can all be put back together.

i had another 79 years back that i got paint&body work done the shop used 2 reg cab lower panels cut them in half and welded the front&back pcs together with a filler pc for the extra length of a sc worked fine sc roof rail mouldings for a sc are listed in dennis carpenter parts but as usual "no stock comming soon"
finding on the web was next to impossable to find nos and if you got used parts cost you an arm and your first born for "over size shipping" i found mine local and they can be removed by rolling from the bottom up very carefully as mine was missing the d/s the sc that i have now in the paint shop it also totaly rust free including the rear cab inner area [pics in my gallery] i will be spending special attention on rust proofing with [1] zink phosphate [2] por 15 [3] undercoat [4] sound deadener [5] 1/2" pcs of pipe through the floor for a drain or on my bodymans recomendation use epoxy with a rotating head wand

Ok, seriously, when my dad got this truck years ago, it was really beat.

We ended up getting an old parts rig, taking the quarter panels off it, and bondoing the rest. It looks fine though.

They're all getting hard to find parts for, though, so you do whatever you can...

There was a cool looking CC here awhile back in NJ for sale cheap 4WD and all. Sounded like a good deal until I watched the youtube video of them driving offroad and the bed sides were flopping around
