Is there any other way to pay for the thing? I can't be a Fanatic because I don't do PayPal. To be completly honest I need that $25 dollars for my next tank of gas, but if I do want to join, are there any other options?

That's a good point Matt. I've been thinking this Fanatic thing over and have come up with some good reasons why this might not be the best thing for this forum. Just one is the fact that several members are on fixed incomes or low incomes and it would only prove to alienate those members.

You've got to realize that it costs money to run this site, I doubt that even the amount they get from 'fanatic's' will cover that. Unless you have a massive user-base and many sponsors, the books just don't balance out without some kind of fee. It's not like you're being forced to pay it, think of it that way.

I agree with you on that it's just that everyone can't afford it and it might make them feel ashamed that they can't help the site in that way.

To the first question. There absolutly is a secondary way to become a "Fanatic" I just made an update in the announcement this morning in response to another users question.

Money orders to FTF's P.O. Box will be accepted and "Fanatic" status will be manually applied.

FTF does cost money to run and I don't think anyone here believes any different. Not wanting to or being able to afford to, whatever the issue, is NO problem to us. People support the site in lots of ways that don't involve money. First and foremost they participate in the site. Start threads, participate in threads look into get togethers etc.

I don't see being a non fanatic any differently then choosing to be a fanatic. If it fits and works then we would love to have ya, if it dosen't then it dosen't. No biggie.

Your right Don, but being a supporter is really more about helping out with the cost of the up keeping of the site, its not like any one twisting any one else's arm to pay.

A lot of great points made in this thread. Ryan-- you're exactly right. This site costs a buttload of money. Especially since we've had all the crazy growth, we had to upgrade our servers and the new stuff costs.... well... a buttload! LOL!

So that's why we started making up new ways to help support the site. Without support from members (and like said, no that doesn't necessarily mean GIVING FTF your money), the site will eventually get phased out. If you can't afford to donate money, then tell everyone you know about the site! Spread the good word. Start discussions and interest in having get-togethers. My main way of supporting the site? Making decals for the members, and not charging a single cent for any of my time spent on the stickers. That's my gift to FTF.

We (FTF)/ I will think nothing about the people having fanatic status or not .Its basically a donation to help a site. I asked to join My fist couple posts (been awhile ). Just because I like the site and the FTF family .

But We know not everyone can or wants to . Bout Every site has a "sponsor member " Group so what .(its usually a small portion ) I value Your guys input with or with out status . So don't worry just post up when people ask questions and you'll be supporting us More than u know .smiliegitrdone

As for me well I didn't know anything about it till today . And will join after I get remodel done .

Excellent! And also, I do understand that ftf costs money to run and have no problem supporting it monetarily when possible.

We appreciate all the support of our members, be it through monetary donations, or just spreading the word about us. Contrary to popular belief, we do respect and appreciate what everyone of you do for us. If it weren't for you all this site would be nothing.

Again thanks for everything guys and gals.
