Factory Tach

Just went to the wreckers and got a factory tach for the old F250. I'll post pics of before and after install. The printed circuit board is the only difference if you have gauges. My truck is a 1983 and the option for a tach is plug&play. Ford was good in having the wiring in place for most of the options you would want to add that didn't come in the base trucks.smiliegitrdone

It's a little more involved than you made it sound hoss. If your truck comes with idiot lights for oil and battery, then you CAN NOT add a factory tach without extensive rewiring. However if you have oil and battery gauges, then it's plug and play. Also, 1980 printed circuits are different than July 1980-1986 printed circuits, so you cannot interchange these either without some rewiring.:)

in the one picture I took of the cluster removed, it says that it will only work if you have the gauges. I've read threads where people have used a factory tach and just wired it in separately. I should have mentioned the codes for the printed circuits.E1TF-10C956 B for tach option, and E1TF-10C956 C for non tach cluster.
