Exhaust flutter

1984 f150
Carb'd 302

Had my exhaust shop pull the cats and install true duals. Truck sounds mean now, however, when in park and neutral, the exhaust is very fluttery. When in drive gear, the flutter almost disappears.

I read somewhere that I need to add a cross pipe to connect both sides of the motor?

Any help here? Thoughts?

No mufflers? You probably just need something to help tone it. Like a glasspack or some form of resonator. If you x or h pipe it would probably help. However i have no experience per say in h or x pipes but in theory it should work. It would.probably even.out the tone. Plus it would be cool to experiment

You definitely want the 'H" or "X" pipe, will give you better exhaust flow because it helps in the scavenging of the exhaust gases, more low end torque, and will sound much better. Just had it added to my exhaust, and it made quite the difference
