Edelbrock Vic Jr 77199 Head Gasket??

My 347 developed some popping, running terrible. After checking some things my #7 plug was black. Checked for compression and had none!!!!! So I pulled the head tonight and the head gasket blew from the #7 to #8 Cyl. So edelbrock suggests the Fel-Pro 1011-2 for mild performance engines. So my question is, is there a better gasket besides going to a lock wire head gasket?

that felpro is the best option IMO.. surprised it blew so badly.

I did a bunch of research and the FelPro 10112 is rated as a very good gasket, so im down to the kid that I got the motor from messed it up, or detonation!
