ok guys in my 92 Flareside that has a E4OD it has been acting funny the past couple of days. when im in overdrive the truck will be cruising along and it sounds like the engine is reving up and down up and down. its not like its dropping in and out of overdrive. im wondering what could be causing this?

and its only in OD not in 3rd. like if i turn OD off its acting normal.

its this what everyone calls Shuttering?

or maybe its the throttle position sensor?

gonna pull codes in just a couple of minutes...

Just out of curiosity, turn off your a/c or defrost when its doing it just to see if it quits.

The only other thing, is there anything else going on? Could be seemingly unrelated (blown fuses, steering column controls not working). Theres a tsb on 3-4 shift cycling.

no. just it seems like it revs up and down in OD. but when i turn OD off its fine.

and it only does it when its cold. once the truck is warmed up it drives fine.

When the od is engaged, the converter is locked. It will tend to "magnify" anything going on with the engine (misfires, idle changes, etc.). If the idle is being raised by the a/c compressor, then dropped when it kicks off, it would be noticed more in od. Some vehicles automatically turn on the compressor at first startup until warmed to insure that the oil is distributed isise the system.
