does my truck need an adjuster cable?

I have a 1994 F150 shortbed single cab, The truck has a parking brake cable from the front, and it has the two rear cables. I know I need an equalizer piece, but do I need an adjuster cable also that goes from the front cable to the equalizer?
I've seen it written online that the 1994 year trucks have an adjuster built in to the assembly in the cab. I'm wondering if I can hook my front cable to the equalizer without the adjuster.
