If you wanted Radials, you had to buy them from a tire store...if you could find a tire store that carried them.
Who invented the Radial Tire? Michelin.
What was the first vehicle that came with Radials as standard equipment? 1955 FWD Citroen.
What was the first US car to offer Radials as standard equipment? 1966 FWD Olds Toronado.
Ford did not offer Radial tires on any truck until the mid 1970's and then only as an option.
Basically, thru the early 1980's, all trucks came with bias-ply tires.
Most Ford trucks came with Firestone's as original, tho the customer could request any 'ol tire.
