Custom two piece exhaust manifold

How the frick does this work? So I'm underneath my 89 Topaz this morning, removing the exhaust when I noticed something was wrong. I wiggled the exhaust pipe before the cat. and noticed it had a lot of play...

I knew there was an exhaust leak due to a cracked manifold, but common!

It's off the road now, gonna be my field car... Took it out for one last ride, and oh was it ever LOUD.

Pretty bad, didn't expect such catastrophic failure... Guess through all the heat cycles and such it became brittle and grew from a crack to this... Broken motor mount might have helped as well.

AWD Topaz = COOL!
