Converting '77 steering from manual to power

Hello everyone. New to this site and to the Ford community. I just purchased a 1977 Ford F100 Custom. It has the original 300 inline 6 and three speed transmission that has been converted to the floor already.

My question is.....What will I need to convert the steering to power steering. Of course, I know I will need the steering box, hoses, pump, brackets. Does the steering column need to be changed in order to accept the new box?

Really want to get this done so it will be easier to drive, especially while backing the boat and trailers.

Thanks in advance for your help.:)

Pretty shure the column will be fine. Your list looks good to me. Might need a crank pulley if it is different belt (should be) Good luck & happy hunting

Thanks, John! I was wondering about the pulley also. Unfortunately, the hunt will have to start in a couple of weeks. I was under the truck Thursday night trying to get the fuel tank vent line hooked up and cut my hand on the frame. Four stitches later, I'm waiting to heal so I can go junk yard scouring.

Find a 1973/77 F100 2WD or 1975/77 F150 2WD-Everything will bolt right up.

1978/79: The column is different from 1973/77, as is the P/S pump and hoses.

Thanks BKW. That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm going to start scavenging the junk yards when I get the stitches out of my hand. Thanks again!

Did the same swap on a 77 300 3 speed. Column is shorter with power steering. 3 speed PS columns are hard to come by so if your keeping it on the floor an auto PS column should work just won't look right.
