what kinda compression will a new just broken in engine have?

Mine: 79 f250 400 cu.in. 95-105 psi all the way accross..
looking at a winter rebuild project..

I would think 120-140 would be close

anywhere between 120-200 ive seen.. typically the 160-200 is on 302's and 351W's with stroker kits in em...

That engine wouldn't have been over 140 when it was fresh in the plant went it was new

Ya I agree about 140 on new 400 Ford in around 1979.
