When I was doing my breaks I found a cylinder leaking badly!
I can get the new ones from O smily auto parts but I've never changed break cylinders before, do I have to drain break system, whats the best way to do this?

You don't have to drain the system but now would be a good time to do it.
If not draining the system just pull the old cylinder off fill the new one and attach the line with the bleeder out and it will gravity bleed unless you run it dry.
Made sure you don't need a new brake line or at least a end. they rust fast here and you end up breaking a line trying to free them up due to all the salt they use here.

The Brake fluid if old, should be changed anyway.

But, if you are fact enough to slide a rubber plug over the fitting before you change the wheel cylinder you can avoid bleeding all of the other lines.

How come you call them Breaks ?

Ya dont have to drain the brakes but it would help to put new fluid in there and bleed em. Theres two small bolts on the backing plate and thats what holds the cylinder in. Just take the line off and those two bolts and its out if ya have the shoes off.

You talkin about a rear wheel cylinder right? If so It is pretty strait forward. Personaly I would buy the kit for all the parts in the drum (cables, nails ect..) and new shoes. You have to take all this apart anyway so why not replace it now. When you replace the cylinder leave the bleed screw open and if possible get that wheel lower than the rest. Should gravity bleed fairly easily. Or just bleed normaly.

Yes the fluid needs to be changed but I really don't want to screw with the flushing the system, but I knew a guy that will do it for me for 20 bucks BdayBigGrin
