Ford has increased the shop competency requirements. They're now gonna require someone to be certified in brakes and climate control as well (not a problem, got 'em now). I can imagine there's a bunch of techs nationwide scrambling to get certified.

Good thing to know. Im certified through the state of michigan in engine repair, front end steering and suspension. Brakes and air conditioning was going to be my next classes. Thanks for the heads up. The school i go to promotes being CAT certified and thats master GM. But i want to work on fords. I hear theres more money to be made by ford.

do you have to be ASE master certified before you can become FMC master certified?

This sounds like a perfect post to start a thread in the "Ford Vs the Other Guys' forum!

There is- but you don't want to hear why. In the last five years, average warranty claims per vehicle under warranty went from over $500/unit to right at $100/unit per year in our Chevy shop. Pretty impressive if you're buying one, not so impressive if you're being paid to work on them.

Has GM completely quit classroom training, or do they still hold them at a few places? I know they have web based training, but I was told they're stopping classroom training.
