cant figure it out

When i start my 91 ranger it revs way up to around 5000 rpms. when it idles back down to normal idle speed it shuts off after a few seconds. I dont know what to do or what to try. someone help me out please. need my truck for school and work no truck=no $. and i need my money to fix my truck.

you probably need to get your dtcs read. It sounds like a tp sensor though.
