C4 vs C4

I've got an old "green dot" c4 tranny sitting in a '64 galaxie that that I got to thinking about to day, dad always raved about it as "one one of the reasons he bought the car".

So I was just curious if there was any truth to the rummer or if it's all hype. I know that c4's Can be built to handle some power, but was wondering if one version was better than another.
