Burt's signal lens is smashed

Well guys, I did a boo boo! Yesterday while pulling into the garage, which is a really tight fit in an alley, I cranked the wheel and was creeping in. I thought from my vantage point I had missed it, but alas, it was not to be. I hit the corner of my workbench where just a tiny wood ledge sticks out and it hit squarely into the driver side front turn signal lens and shattered it'smiliedoh' . I stopped before it even got the to light bulb, so it still works, but now I need a new lens.. :( I have been checking around and BOY they are expensive ! I'm seeing $20 each and up. Anyone have a better place? Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, Blue Oval and Ford Truck Parts Guy don't seem to carry them; at least I couldn't find it doing a search. Only the tail and side marker lenses.. Mr Tailight.com doesn't have them either. I want a matched set (to avoid difference in color) They are amber. Thanks

Oh Well.. thanks for looking Dennis. At this rate I just may end up with clear if I can't find the amber ones.

Actually, the cheapest I have found is on eBay and they start at over $50!! What a rip! guess it's time to check the auto wrecker yards...

Hey Dak...I just did a quick search, and I'm having about as good of luck as you are. I've never had to replace a parking lens...who woulda thought no one makes a cheap repop???? And who woulda thought a frickin new lens would be $50!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I can't be more help, but I checked the typical places with no better luck...I figure a pick n pull is probably the next best thing.

Thanks Ben, Yeah, guess I'll start looking. Whodthunkit?! Guess amber lenses were no so popular, because I can find the clear ones. I did find the complete light fixture with lense on LMC for $39.95, and you have to buy both right and left, so if all else fails I guess I'm there, though I don't really want to buy from them. Thanks again,
Dak

They are expensive and that's why I haven't bought the amber ones yet. I'll settle for my used clears ones right now. I still need taillight lenses and rear side markers (along with much more), but for now it works.

i think i have a box full of front, rear and side lenses either in my garage, basement, parts truck or misplaces. i acquired them when a friend of the family was selling his bone yard i pulled a ton of good lenses, windshields and misc parts. i just cant remember where they are its been 5+ years since i broke into them. ill look and post my results

Do what I did and buy a non-running donor truck with good body/interior parts for $50 and strip that badboy down to stock your barn shelves :)

Find one w/o a title and $50-$100 won't be turned down - especially when it's just sitting in their yard looking ugly.

I'd love to do that..but I have nowhere to store it at the city house, which is where Burt is in the garage that is so tight. At my main home in the mountains, even though I have lots of privacy I do have neighbors and well, you, this is California!

Josh,
If you do in fact find a pair of amber lenses I most certainly would be interested in purchasing them from you if they are in really good shape. Thanks for looking!

Buck,
Look at Mr tailight.com. They have the set for the sides and rears that I have on my truck. I've had them for years and they are quite good quality, if you are not worried about being "completely Ford stock".

x2...I got a couple sets so I have some spares for the Bronco, and if for some reason something happens to Red's lenses. They are pretty good quality at an even better price. Although, if you want that blue oval on the lens...well then you'll have to pay the big bucks.

No, I don't need the Ford lenses. I bought some front sidemarkers from JBG and they are aftermarket and worked just fine. I'll take a look at Mr. Tailight though. Thanks.

YAHOO!!!!! THANKS DENNIS! :thanks: I called Mike after viewing his website and he had 3 of them! They are "driver" quality. He's a real nice guy over the phone and I have bookmarked his webpage. I bought all three (for future reference!) at $5.00 each including shipping to California from the East. that way I will have a set and a spare set. Or, if in the future someone really needs them on here I'll be able to help.

Mike even knows your username on here! Speaks highly of you and of numberdummy.. :) :)

Thanks again!
Dak

P.S. Rep points given!
