Burping the coolant system - part two

Taken from the other thead......

"you really dont need to worry about the overflow on these trucks because the radiator is the highest point in the cooling system so the air will bleed out if the cap is off and the engine is ran at operating temp."

Question: Exactly how do you accomplish this without making a big coolant mess, burning yourself etc. etc.

a mess is pretty much going to happen anyway. whenever i have a vehicle without a degas bottle, i will let the vehicle run while i am filling up with coolant, and watching the flow back in the radiator. i stop within a few inches of the neck and wait for the vehicle to warm up (when the upper hose starts getting warm) and top off. i never fill completely full before a rd test that way there is room for expansion and any air trapped. i rd test with the heat on and drive as hard as i can, let cool and top off again. i have never had any issues with air getting trapped doing it this way.

They make a setup (mine is called RADKIT) that puts a vacuum in the coolant system. Just put a hose in the anti freeze, and it sucks it in, no air bubbles.
