broncoll spitting and sputtering

hey guy newbie here 1st off hey......i need help 1989 broncoll 2wd 2.9 fuel/inj, developed a spitting and sputtering couple wks after i got it,was told to check the fuel filter 1st so i did and it was full of junk and rusty looking,so i bought a new fuel filter and i bought a new tank and fuel pump, cause it all looked bad....put it all in and drove it now it doesnt spit as bad but still does on take off then smooths out but lacks power, before i did all this i had a mechanic at msr of florida check and set the timing so i assuming that is ok,my question is whats next? can i clean the fuel injectors manually? cause it costs about 300 for those new and i dont have that cash right now after all the other stuff.anyway and answer to that and any other info would be greatly appreciated thnx troy

You're fuel pressure regulator should be next in line between the filter and the injectors...These regulators have screens inside them to catch more crap...if the filter and tank were as bad as you say they are, I'd definitely look at pulling the pressure regulator and at the very least trying to clean ti although a new one couldn't hurt. Next I'd pull the plugs and check them.....do you know how long it's been since a basic tuneup has been done? My guess is probably a while considering how bad the FF was. If you're unsure by looking at the wires and plugs....No doubt change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor....maybe even the coil. I'm not too sure if these had an issue with crossfiring like the smallblocks do so that's be something to research as well.

bronco ll spitting and sputtering

well i know that the engine was rebuilt less than 2k miles on it and it has new plugs,wires,cap....and i already checked the firing order,so i`ll try the regulator 1st vand see what happens with that, any other ideas? keep em coming as i will try each till i can post it fixed lol thnx troy
