1994 F150; 300; automatic 124k miles. Pop or sharp thump started today when I press the brakes. Pop happens when pressing the brakes but in that soft pedal throw before the brakes actually engage. Immediate second pump doesn't produce the pop but braking after going down the road just a short distance does get the pop. Could this be a vacuum pulling or releasing the brake mechanism? Worn linkage?
Brakes are good, plenty of brake fluid, vehicle speed doesn't seem to be a factor. The pop seems to be at the firewall but can't tell if it's inside the cab or on the engine side of the firewall.
Anybody got an idea of what this might be? Thanks.
