brake light switch

how the hellz do ya change it on a 88 F150. Ann's aint real sensitive and she got pulled over today cause "her brake lights were working improperly" even though they work???? idk. so she is now tellin me to change it. soooo how do you change it?

I would check for good connectivity first. Use a DMM to measure ohms in the circuit.

why they work? basically the thing is they work fine. just her brakes are very very stiff so she barely has to touch her brakes for her to slow down. and so its not pushing far enough down to flip the brake lights on. i had this same problem on my old 82 F100 but i never got around to changing the switch.

Can you move the switch farther up so there's less travel before the contact is closed?

If you look at the exploded view diagram you will see how the switch is adjustable for travel.

If the switch is not defective it does not need to be replaced.

Merely adjusted.

thats what i just found out. i went out to go get my haynes manual and read it just now.

ok i know the perfect angle the switch needs to be at i just cant get the dang bracket to bend to stay there.

try using a couple zip ties to get the right angle, sounds ghetto but it should work
