I hate to do this, especially a company that ive spent MORE than alot of money with, and a company that is based in michigan buuutttt....

When i bought my truck in April of 07, i put a Tie rod kit on my truck, Includes aallll the steering links and everything.

Well they didnt even last me 2 years. I had a bad knock in the front end of my truck, only knocked when i put it in drive (or reverse) and taking off really slowly. Didnt matter how bumpy it was, most the time the knock would happen when taking off on concrete.

I thought maby my rear slip joint was out of grease again, or a bad U joint which i inspected and all are good.

SO tonight i was doing my inspection before my 4 hour highway trip and sand dune driving, i jacked up the drivers side front end to check tie rod ends and ball joints, and to see maby if that knock was coming from the front (Which I KNOW it was coming from the front) as i could feel it in my floorboard when it would knock.

Drivers side checked out great! Checked the passengers side, ball joints good, check tie rod end and i have about a inch of play on either side, which im amazed im either still sitting here alive, and how its still connected, Maby, havent checked yet but its BAD.

If i have to change Tie rod ends every year and a half then this is going to get expensive.

But im going to contact Bronco Grave Yard in the morning and see what they think about this.

I regularly grease my tie rod ends. Alls i know is im going to be glad not to hear that knock again, makes me feel like im riding in a big piece o crap...

that is a bad thing-they should last longer than that- I would contact them and complain-probably a waste of time but at least you can rant and rave to them-

Not really to complain, im going to just let them know that mine are defective, and to keep an eye on em...

Every piece that i need new on this truck came from BGY. Its only about an hour and a half drive from my house, so instead of paying the price of shipping quarter panels and new doors, i just went and picked them up.

Everything in black except for the cowl was from BGY

To bad now i gotta make sure i got that stinkin tie rod end exactly where my old one came off at so i can take it on a vacation without needing an alignment..

That sucks man, When i had my ball joints done i was standing there when the mechanic put it on the lift, as he did the drag link just fell off...

Ok i wasnt really mad until ummm... NOW!

As i went to replace the new tie rod end with a new one.... I noticed that the outer tie rod end that connects near the steering box is ALSO bad. I was to busy to call today but monday morning they are going to get an ear full now!

Now i cant take the bronco on the dunes for the last weekend. O well i guess il take the superduty...

Is it possible that all of the sand hasn't been getting flushed out when you re grease? it seems like there has to be some sort of extraordinary circumstance in your situation.

You mean, if you were 'extraordinarily' drunk?

I was thinking the same thing. If it's not a greasable joint, is it possible the end of the tie rod end wore out? How are your tires? Do they show that maybe it was way out of alignment?

I take it out on the dunes but i never do anything hard enough to get sand everywhere. Mostly my floorboards from getting in and out. But even if i did i always make sure to regrease them when i get home.

Tires are wearing great and no signs of being out of line. Idk... I think i just got a bad batch.
