Bestop supertop

What do you guys think of the Bestop supertop? I can't decide if I like the looks of it or not but I do like the features it offers. Here's a link:

Hmmm...

I've never seen one on a truck, which makes me wonder why not.

I had a tonneau cover on my Ranger when I first got it, soft vinyl/rubber stuff that snapped onto a rail around the bed. It was a little bit of a nuisance to put on in the summer, but once the temps dropped below about 40, the rubber would shrink and stiffen so much that once you unsnapped it, it was nearly impossible to snap back down. Seems at least possible you'd run into the same problem with that, and I'd be concerned about wind noise, too.

*My suggestion for your situation (which is about what I've done, too) is get a hard canopy/topper, and buy a 5x8 utility trailer for stuff that won't fit under it.

I currently have a vinyl tonneau cover on my truck but have been looking at replacing with a camper shell but don't want to lose the use of the bed. A camper shell could be taken off but it looks to be much easier with the supertop.

The supertop is made with the same material as a jeep top but I wonder how long they last.

The other option I have been looking at is a vinyl cover that folds up in sections but also will roll up for full access to the bed.

Basically want something that gives me access to the front of the bed with out completely removing the top or having to lay on my back and slide underneath to the front.

They make a roll-up tonneau with a frame that is hinged at the front of the bed. Not sure how it would fit in with what you want, but it's worth a thought, anyway.

You can open it on the hinges, to get access to the bed, or remove the entire frame to use the truck to haul something big, or roll it up if it's in your way somewhere away from home.

I've read that they don't hold up very well, and they're not cheap, but if I buy a new truck, I may put on on it anyway.

Extang calls theirs the Full-Tilt, not sure if there are any other brands.

YUCK! A guy at my old apartment complex had one of those on his truck. After a while it just looked like a homeless person had setup camp in his truck bed They look hoakey if you ask me.

Those Bestops fade over a period of time, and start looking grey.

Oh they last long time but fade. I'm getting a tonnue for during summer . And removing cap.

If access is the issue. Get a fiberglass top with tilt up side windows. They make them for carpenters (and that type of thing). They lock to keep unwanted visitors out and you have the top for camping (or whatever).

Also...they are not that heavy. I had one on my ranger (made near Springfield). Two people could lift it off and sit it on blocks. It was insulated and had lights in it. It had 4 bolts (I think) that you had to remove to get it off, but they make clamps for them too.
