Best fluid for 68 3 speed manual?

I'm a new owner of a 1968 F100 with the Ford light duty 3 speed manual (3 on the tree). I've read a lot about how newer fluids could attack (brass?) synchronizers...so I'm wondering what is best fluid for this old transmission.

Any help would be appreciated. I want to treat the truck right

I believe it's just 80/90 weight gear oil.. I'd double check.. Ill see what my chek-chart at work says is acceptable..

I agree... I'm almost sure it just takes plain old 80w 90 gear oil.

Thanks. My concern is whether the newer off the shelf GL-5 gear lube will damage the bronze/brass synchros in the orders transmission.

Here is a Red Line product that is GL-4 and says it's safe for brass synchros. I'm just not sure if that's the best option.

I use 80w90 then add a quart of lucas to it. anything that has gears should have lucas in it.

Unfortunately I don't have that old listed in my chek-chart.. I do have access to finding out but it's looking like 80-90 is your lubricant
