ok im wondering whats the best way to prevent corrosion on the battery posts. i drove the 88 all day today and will be tomorrow unlike usual where ann drives it. well today i went to the store and came back out turned the key. CLICK! turned it again starts right up. so bad connection. and this truck has had this problem since weve had it. when i got home i decided to check and see if it would start up just to double check it. CLICK. dam. so i cleaned off the terminals and battery posts (brand new terminals but old battery) and turned the key and started right up no problem.

basically long story short to a question.

what is the best way to prevent corrosion on the posts that cause a bad connection. im tired of having to clean the terminals.

They make a spray, clean everything real good then spray it down, should have it at the parts store can is a few bucks, usually its pink. Works like a champ too.

I did what these guys suggest. Just clean up the terminal and douse it in the red spray-can of battery post terminal grease.

Permatex makes a corrosion cleaner that you spray on and it fizzes as it eats all of the corrossion. You hose it off with water and repeat if it's real bad. After the terminals are dry, they've got another product you spray on and it seals it-- the spray is purple in color. I had the exact same problem a while back and these 2 sprays fixed me up for good.

Baking soda and wire brush followed by either dielectric grease or vaseline.

Sodium Bicarbonate...AKA...baking soda neutralizes the acid seepage on the posts.....Coca-Cola is not a base...it is acidic.

Vaseline works...if you keep that in your toolbox

The red and green felt things work...I use those

The spray that everyone else is suggesting works well too

Or if you dare to be different glue a penny in the middle of the battery and let the corrosion go there.

Get a Lifeline or Deka AGM and you won't have to worry about corrosion :D
