anyone know GVWR, GCWR for my subby

me and a friend have been wondering about this, tha rating plate is gone on the sub and I realized I have no idea what the gvwr is.



1987 GMC Suburban K2500 4x4

400v8 (came with a 350) th400 trans

4.10 gears. towing package... hd brakes, hd front and rear springs.

because I was severely embarassed hooken up to a trailer that weighed ~8k.

The Ford coulda done it no prob.

IIRC it was polarbear that was able to help me on my question of curb weight. hopin someone knew gvwr and of gcwr.


oh well.

Its a shitolet. Add 10 lbs to its curb weight and you're maxed out.

Cheese and Crackers...did someone turn this site in to a chevy hang out over the last couple weeks. Only answer I have for you Mattybear is it will be <Ford.

Musta missed this (I've been working a sheitload of hours lately).

GVW, GCW, GCVWR should be posted in the door jamb. GCVWR was 12,500 lbs. Remember the truck itself weighed over 6,000 pounds, plus the weight of fuel, options, and passengers. That maxes trailer weight at somewhere around 6,000 lbs. The only way to get higher than that was go with a 'Burb with the 2500 2WD and a big block.

*Oddly, in those years, the 1/2T 4X4 actually had higher trailering ratings.
