Hey all, I'm wanting to add an electrical water temperature gauge to my '79 and still retain the factory dash gauge.

What type of sending unit is required for the aftermarket gauges?

Can I simply splice into the wire for my stock gauge? With both still read accurately?

Here is the gauge I want to use... Cyberdyne A020E060N - Cyberdyne Digital Red Heat Gauges - summitracing.com

Yep, the new gauge will need its own sending unit. I know that on a 351m400 there is an extra port on the water pump where an extra temp sender could be thereaded in (I used this for a elec fan set up I used to have).

Not sure about the other FoMoCo engines.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to be able to use the factory gauge wire since I have quite a few sending units already, but it looks like I need to find a spot for another.

Currently I have the following sending units:

1. Coolant temp sender for the gauge
2. Coolant temp sender for the computer (fuel injection)
3. Low speed electric fan switch
4. High speed electric fan switch
