A Public Thank You to Vince

Today was the second time in three weeks that I've taken my truck for Vince to look at. It was suffering from the romps that would last for 15 seconds or so when first started cold.

Three weeks ago Vince hooked it up to the computer and could see what he thought might be a failing FICM. But Ford procedure requires him to first install the latest programing into the control module and then test start after a "cold soak". Well that wasn't going to happen as I had just driven 120 miles to get there and wasn't planning on spending the night, so I drove it home. Well, for 2 and a half weeks she started flawlessly. Yesterday morning the romp was back so I called Vince. This morning he PM'd me to tell me they had a FICM in stock and asked why wasn't I there yet!

It is such a great feeling to know Vince the person, the tech, the guy with soooo much knowledge and integrity.....I'm humbled in his presence.

Thank you Vince!

Only too happy to help! Besides, I got to get a break from the Explorer on the other side. And, thank you for lunch.

Essentially, a CAN BUS issue (the network of all the modules in the vehicle). It shows the instrument cluster isn't communicating, creating a no start. This happened after diagnostics to correct an ABS/Traction control/RSC (roll stability control) light.

Hey Brad -

Prior to the flash update was your truck still running the stock strategy from '05?

+1 here.... Vince always takes my calls when I call (one of the few that does)... and I have always appreciated the "call-in tech help".

What I am more impressed with in the photo that was posted in this thread is the "top side creeper" stand and "belly rest"!!!!

Dam... I have never seen that before and that would really be a god send at times.

Now... this thread may cost me money as a "Google" top-side creeper to see what they cost and where to buy one.

Thanks Vince for costing me money!!!! smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo

Only too happy to help. Beach!

Vince,

Hope you are well...

My '03 Excursion is running fine.

My son's '01 F250 just had the starter replaced and is doing well.

I'll have to check into the "creeper thing", but with twin boy's heading off to college this fall, money is getting tight... and it's more fun to go to the Ford dealer and watch THEM fix things... and I stay clean and drink a Coke while I watch THEM!!!

By the way, I visted a small art gallery that has pencil drawings like what you do... and your a rich man and don't even know it!!! They were selling for $50.00 - $200.00/ea without a frame!!!!!

Take care,

Take care,
The wealth comes from watching the smile come across someones face when they look at a drawing, or the twinkle in their eye when they remember their grandfather dressing like that. The comments about the addition of the rips in the jacket or the carpenters pencil in the overalls. Yes, I'm very wealthy, monetarily,no, but wealthy nonetheless. Money does not bring wealth, living your life to the fullest does. If I bring a smile to someones face, I've made them wealthy........HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE ON THAT?
