My grandfather is passing down his 1992 F250 to me. He said there is an issue with the rear tank cuting out. A littlebackground on this issue...due to poor eye sight, the truck has seen VERY little movement. He spoke with a mechanic over the phone who said the screen is most likely gummed up due to fuel sitting unused for so long. Everything wih the truck worked great when he originally parked it 5 years ago. The only driving on the truck has seen is up and down the street a couple time per month.
As I live in Nevada and he is in Oklahoma, Id lik to be fully prepared to fix this when I go out in April. Does this screen need replacing? Any thoughts on where to get one? Can the screen be cleaned? My grandfather was told by the mechanic it's a lost cause as the screen is no longer available. But I refuse to accept this. Anything else that may be the issue? The truck does run for about a minute when he changes the tank before it cuts off.
