ok i bought this 89 f150 it has a 5.8 with granny gear 4 speed which come to find out was never an option in a 150....only the 250's had that option from what i read
when i got the truck it only had the rear tank....and the pump in the rear tank was terribly loud so i replaced it......i then got a new side tank and put a new pump in it also.....then just recently it died and i put a new frame pump and a new manual tank selector valve(the one on the frame)...it also did not have a o2 sensor in the exhaust for some god awefull reason.....i didnt even see a plug for it to hook to......come to find out someone pulled the entire harness out all the way up to the plug on the fenderwell.....i work for a junk yard so i went and found the harness but could only find one with 4 wires and the o2 i put in the exhaust only has 3 wires.....then my alt stops working i replace it and it didnt fix it.....replaced the alt wiring harness and that didnt help either....come to find out it was a diode in the gauge cluster that made it not work.....replaced that with a cluster from a truck at work and works fine.......now my check engine light actually works
my problem is it has a miss......i pulled the code out of the system and it went like this
1...2.........1...2........5...1.......8...6.......5...1.........8...6....1
does that mean a code 12, 51, and 86?.....
i put all new plugs and wires on it.....i need to do a cap and rotor next......
my rear tank does not run as well as the front tank does.......almost like the in tank pump is bad already......
and for some odd reason i feel like someone swapped the 5.8 in this truck and left the 5.0 computer in it because it does not seem like it runs like it should........the vin shows it should have been a 5.0 truck
i need some serious help here......im about to throw it all away and just put a carb on it but thats not really what i wanna do
